Parents of kids who attend Shell Beach Elementary School are voicing their concerns about the condition of some of the school’s classrooms. Winter storms damaged the roof of at least one building. According to some parents, a black substance, that looks like mold has appeared on the insulation. Lucia Mar District officials say an inspection showed no mold. Parents also pointed out that the school’s portable classrooms sit in dirt, have leaking roofs, and broken gutters. District officials say the classrooms will be repaired this summer. Adding that the portable building is scheduled to be replaced in 2021.
