Camp Roberts Army National Guard base in northern San Luis Obispo County will soon house thousands of migrant children from the U.S. Mexican border. In a press release County Supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg said the base would act as a shelter for roughly 5,000 unaccompanied migrant children until they can be reunited with relatives. It’s currently unclear when the children would begin arriving or how long they would be housed at the base.
