Firefighters Keep Riverbed Under Control

Quick work by firefighters helped keep a riverbed fire under control yesterday afternoon. Cal Fire Firefighters and crews a from Santa Barbara County Fire were called out to a report of a brush fire in the Santa Maria Riverbed near the Highway 101 and 166 interchange. When they arrived crews found a 2-acre fire burning at a moderate rate. By 6 p.m., the flames had scorched about 30 acres. According to Cal Fire SLO’s twitter page, the blaze charred a total of 95 acres and was fully contained by 6:30.
