The Santa Maria City Council has given the green light to a resolution supporting a Santa Barbara county decision to temporarily restart oil operations. With a 4 to 1 vote, the council urged the County Planning Commission move forward with a proposal by ExxonMobile that would send up to 70 oil tanker trucks up the 101 daily to a refinery north of Santa Maria. Supporters say the trucks will be used as a stop gap until a pipeline can be reopened.
