Nearly all of California’s 58 counties are now in a drought emergency. Governor Gavin Newsom announced 41 counties are currently in a drought emergency. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties are in a severe drought, while other counties in the state are experiencing extreme drought conditions. During his press conference, Governor Newsom stopped short of declaring a state of emergency.
