A flag meant to show solidarity sparked controversy in Paso Robles. Last weekend members of the Facebook group PRotect Paso attached a “thin blue line” flag to a light pole outside the city’s Public Safety Center. According to the Tribune, an email called the flag controversial and divisive and requested the flag be immediately removed. Paso Robles Police Chief Ty Lewis ordered the flag removed. In a post on Facebook yesterday he said the flag was a distraction from the department’s mission to preserve public peace and safety.
