A ninth San Luis Obispo County resident has died due to COVID-19. Health officials say the person was in their 70’s with underlying health conditions. Adding that they had been hospitalized after traveling out of state. As of Friday, 1,500 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in SLO County. Meanwhile, the Santa Maria area remains a hot spot for COVID-19 in Santa Barbara County. Some believe the reasons for the large numbers could come from contact with friends and family. Being essential workers and not being able to shelter at home. The organization CAUSE in Santa Maria will be holding a series of meetings with young farm workers to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
