Some Santa Maria Students are going to get a free ride. The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department distributed free 31-day bus passes for Santa Maria students in 7th to 12th grade. Students receiving free or reduced school lunches were eligible for a pass. The passes were funded by a grant. Santa Maria City officials are working to keep the program going through the summer months.
