The Santa Maria Police Department is again trying to keep Christmas packages where they belong, on your porch. For the past five years, Santa Maria P.D. officers have taken part in “Operation Porch Pirate”to reduce holiday theft. When time allows, officers trail couriers in marked and unmarked vehicles in areas that have seen a high number of stolen packages. So far, no arrests have been made. Police are hopeful that their efforts will stop crooks from ruining someone else’s Christmas.
