The San Luis Obispo City Council plans to hold a special meeting to discuss an urgency ordinance aimed at protecting local renters. A California law caps annual rent increases and requires landlords to show just cause before evicting a tenant in good standing. But, it goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2020. According to KSBY, the urgency ordinance would go into effect immediately and prevent year-end rent increases and evictions. The special meeting starts tonight at 6 at San Luis Obispo City Hall.
