900 Acre Blaze Nearing Full Containment

Cal Fire Firefighters are battling a large grass fire in California Valley this morning. Crews were first called out to a report of a vegetation fire yesterday afternoon at around 5. By 6:45 the fire had grown to 150 acres and ten engines and six air tankers were assigned to the blaze. Crews were dealing with windy conditions that helped the now named Belmont Fire grow to about 700 acres by 7. Roughly three and a half hours later Cal Fire reported that the forward progress of the flames had been stopped. Officials say the fire that had scorched mostly grass and was last reported to be 70 percent contained.
