A San Luis Obispo murder for hire case has hit a snag. That’s because a primary witness to the prosecution’s case can’t get into the U.S. to testify. Chris Monteiro allegedly discovered a murder-for-hire plot on the “dark web” that involved Beau Brigham wanting to have his stepmother killed. Brigham’s stepmother lives in San Luis Obispo. He’s facing a single felony charge of solicitation of murder. According to the Tribune, the plan unraveled when it was discovered by Monteiro and turned over to the media. The trial is scheduled to begin next week but Prosecutors are fearful their star witness’ legal issues won’t be resolved in time. They have asked the court for an extension.
