The California Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers with a passion for kayaking or paddle boarding to sign up for the SeaLife Stewards program. The program aims to prevent wildlife disturbance, record citizen science data, and identify and share information about local wildlife. A large part of the job is to educate the public about safe viewing distances for Morro Bay’s sensitive wildlife. Volunteers will receive training in the form of two 4-hour classroom sessions and one 5-hour in-water training from experts. You can call 661-433-0931 to volunteer.
