A building that used to be home to a downtown Santa Maria stereo shop was torn down yesterday. Its part of a city plan to attract more businesses and invite people to walk around the downtown area. The demolition was needed to make way for a mixed-use project at Main and Broadway. It will include one floor of retail businesses and three floors of residential apartments.
