Newsom Announces School Reopening Deal

Governor Gavin Newsom announced a 6.6 billion dollar School reopening deal aims to bring California kids back to class by April 1. $4.6 billion will be used for “expanded learning opportunities” such as tutoring services to help students recover from a long gap in in-person learning. the remaining $2 billion will be used to incentivize schools to reopen for their youngest students by the end of the month. For counties in the purple tier, the plan states that students in grades TK through 2nd grade should open by April 1.
