Santa Maria Farmworkers Receive Checks For Retaliation Allegations

More than 200 Santa Maria farmworkers received checks yesterday as part of a retaliation settlement. In May of last year, the Central Coast United for a Sustainable Economy filed an unfair labor practice charge with the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board on behalf of workers at Rancho Laguna. According to KSBY, the charge alleged Rancho Laguna unlawfully fired workers and threatened to call law enforcement and immigration after they engaged in a work stoppage seeking to increase their wages.
