Sheriff’s Deputy Injured In Ambush Suspect Dead

A San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering this morning after being ambushed by a wanted felon. Sheriff Ian Parkinson says it started yesterday morning just before 10:30 in Templeton when a deputy spotted a vehicle belonging to the suspect of an ongoing investigation. The deputy spotted the suspect on foot, but he fled into the nearby cemetery and hid behind some shrubbery before opening fire on the deputies. The deputies returned fire. Two more deputies arrived as the suspect tried to get back to his vehicle. The alleged White supremacist gang member and deputies engaged in a gun battle. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
