Firefighters are working to fully contain a brush fire that broke out over the weekend. The Pond Fire burning east of Santa Margarita broke out late Saturday afternoon and quickly charred over 1500 acres. Steep, rugged terrain, wind, and heat made battling the flames more difficult. Officials say crews are working to maintain containment lines. The Pond Fire was last reported to have grown to 1700 acres and was 60 percent contained. The cause is currently unknown. An investigation is ongoing.
