A protest march against racial injustice started peacefully, but ended with arrests and tear gas. Hundreds of protesters took to San Luis Obispo Streets yesterday afternoon at around 2 o’clock. Officials said the protest was mostly peaceful. The protesters made their way onto the 101, forcing officers to redirect traffic. After about 6 hours of protesting, police said the assembly had become unlawful due to public safety risks. A standoff between police ended with the use of tear gas. The windows of three downtown businesses were broken, but it’s unclear if they are related to the protest.
