Nipomo Man Connected To Projectile Case

CHP investigators say a Nipomo man is behind bars following a large number of cars being hit by projectiles in the Prunedale area and San Benito County. Following a nearly year-long investigation, 53-year-old Charles Lafferty was arrested on Wednesday after authorities connected his truck to a number of the attacks. Investigators believe Lafferty started using a slingshot and glass marbles to hit moving vehicles traveling on the 101, and Highway 156 in February of last year. At least 69 vehicles were damaged and 5 people suffered minor injuries. He’s now in Monterey County Jail with bail set at 250,000 dollars.
