Pepper Daniels Recipe
Name: Heidi Voelker
Town: Paso Robles
Recipe: Kickin Cheesy Wontons
(My own rendition of a jalapeno popper)
Ingredients:
1 pkg small square won ton wrappers
3 fresh jalapenos (chopped with the electric chopper thingy) - Deseed them so you can add the seeds back into the mix to determine how hot you want your wontons to be. Oh, and for the love of God, do NOT touch your eyes after you deseed the jalapenos! (That's a mistake you'll only make once!)
2 blocks cream cheese
2 handfuls shredded pepperjack cheese
1/3 purple onion (chopped with the electric chopper thingy)
2 tbsp or a pinch more of minced garlic
(optional) 2 tbsp of chopped sun dried tomatoes
1 jar of the Cider Creek Pepper Jelly (for dipping, duh)
Mix all the cheeses, jalapenos, onion, tomatoes and garlic together and remember to add in however much of the jalapeno seeds you want. Put a teaspoon full of the mix on each of the won ton wrappers. Use water on your finger to fold and seal the wontons. Then flash fry the won tons in a fryer of oil at about 375 degrees for about a minute or untill they just start to brown a bit. Let them cool on a paper towel for a few minutes because that cheese will be smokin' hot (The temperature kind of hot). Then heat up a little bowl of the pepper jelly, dip and consume.
