French Hospital Medical Center
In 2008, French Hospital Medical Center became the ONLY hospital in California named as a Top 100 Cardiac Hospital in the nation. This prestigious annual award is based on an unsolicited and unbiased study examining the performance of nearly 1000 hospital s nationwide. Hospitals honored lead the way with superior performance in cardiovascular care.
French Hospital is also the first and only organization in San Luis Obispo County designated by the American Heart Association as a Fit-Friendly organization. The American Heart Association also honored FHMC with a Community Innovation Award. Fit-friendly companies have created physical activity programs and healthy incentives within the workplace. The Community Innovation Award is given to a worksite/company that achieves all criteria for Gold recognition, plus demonstrates effective programs that promote physical activity, not only in the workplace, but also in the community.
French Hospital also recently received a nationally recognized honor, Making Medicine Mercury Free. The award honors hospitals committed to being good stewards of the environment through recycling programs and the elimination of mercury in medical devices.
