Two Santa Maria Valley school districts are delaying reopening for in-person learning, in part due to growing COVID-19 numbers. While cases across Santa Barbara County have been trending down, Santa Maria’s numbers remain high. Distance learning will remain in place through the first semester, but some progress reports point to a rising number of students failing classes. Officials say whatever plan is eventually put in place, student and staff health comes first.
