Santa Maria City officials took an unprecedented move yesterday by declaring a nightly, citywide curfew. According to a press release, the curfew is a result of looting and vandalism that took over parts of South Broadway during a protest over the weekend. Santa Maria residents are allowed out of their homes only to go to and from work, or to get emergency medical care. The curfew will be in effect nightly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. until Monday, June 8th.
