Governor Shares Plans For Homeless

About a quarter of the entire homeless population of the United States lives in California – and as the state tries to tackle the crisis – Governor Gavin Newsom met with local officials in Oakland yesterday to talk about what he’s calling “the issue of our time.” Newsome told a press conference, “over the course of the next few weeks are going to be distributing because of the work we did last year some 650 million dollars of emergency grants to cities and counties large and small all up and down the state of California.” Emergency funding is being made available to communities throughout the state to create shelters and convert hotels and motels into permanent housing.
