SLOPD Wants Man Who Returned Chief’s Gun Charged

The police investigation into the Los Osos man who picked up San Luis Obispo Police Chief Deanna Cantrell’s gun after it was left in a restaurant bathroom has been turned over to the D.A.’s Office. According to Dan Dow’s office, the Police Department is recommending that 30-year-old Skeeter Mangan be charged with grand theft of a firearm, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place, and burglary. The chief’s gun was reported missing on July 10th and returned by Mangan and his brother-in-law the next day. The police investigation is currently under review by the D.A.’s Office.
