California ranks among the top 5 economies in the world. But according to a recent report, the state is ranked 35th in the nation when it comes to caring for our kids. According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, unevenly divided prosperity, inadequate education system, and failing public programs are leading factors in the ranking. The report found California had more than 1 million children living in impoverished areas. Kentucky ranked one place higher, and Tennessee ranked just below California.
