The Arroyo Grande City Council discussed the Joint Powers Agreement that funds the Five Cities Fire Authority. Five Cities Fire covers Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, and Oceano with fire and emergency services. A new proposed funding plan would have Arroyo Grande paying about 43.7 percent of the costs to run the department. Oceano city officials are hopeful a sales tax increase on the 2020 ballot will help them stay in the agreement. A decision by Arroyo Grande’s city leaders will likely come at a future meeting.
